Band Russia Bernama Indonesia

Ketika para musisi negeri ini berlomba-lomba mencari nama keren dengan bahasa Inggris, sekelompok anak muda Rusia justru menggunakan nama 'INDONESIA' untuk nama bandnya. Kelompok yang dibentuk di Saint Petersburg pada 2007 ini diperkuat oleh Coal (vocal), Santa (bass), Charlie (drum) dan Demian (gitar). Band beraliran rock ini mengaku terinspirasi dari banyak kelompok seperti Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Nirvana, Dream Theater, Deftones, hingga Porcupine Tree.





Menurut Santa (Bass), salah satu personil INDONESIA, band tersebut memilih nama INDONESIA lantaran karena kebetulan. Mereka sudah mencari banyak nama yang cocok, yang mudah diingat, mudah dilafalkan, dan berakar pada jenis music indie.
Namun tidak ketemu. Suatu ketika, Damian (Gitar) secara tidak sengaja menemukan sebaris kalimat di bawah gitarnya yang bertuliskan ‘Made In Indonesia’. “Yeah!” Damina tersintak. – “That’s what we looking for! INDONESIA!” lanjutnya.
Bersama catatan informatif ini selengkapnya saya sertakan pula sejarah ringkas asal mula nama INDONESIA yang diguanakan Coal (vocal), Santa (bass), Charlie (drum) dan Demian (gitar) untuk nama gurp band mereka seperti yang dikirimkan Santa dalam Myspacenya.
“Hi! glad that you liked it, here’s the story that you asked: We’ve chosen INDONESIA name with no political or social reasons. I’m with Demian (guitarist) looked through a hundred names but there was no one good.
We searched for easy to memory name. Also we wanted to have name with “indie” root. Finally, Demian looked at his guitar’s bottom deck and has read: “Made in Indonesia”. “Yeah!” – he said. – “That’s what we looking for! INDONESIA!”
Our music is not connected with one definite style. It envelop much more. It sounds as a “freedom in music”. Our music include all genres. There is progressive and grunge, metal and pop, jaz and disco …etc. But for all that we have our own “indonesian” style.
Our multistyles appears at EP “Pretty Colours” in lesser degree than at our second album which we’re recording right now but it is it. When we were discussing the “INDONESIA” name our thoughts were: “Indonesia… This country located at thousands islands. And every island with it’s own citizens, ideology, customs …etc. Seems like many-sided country. Many-sided music…” Something around this thoughts.”
